Please join the UVP Network of the Reinvention Center at a meeting at the University of Notre Dame. Dr. Dennis Jacobs, Vice President and Associate Provost, has generously offered to host the meeting, which will include a reception and dinner on the evening of Thursday, October 8th with the members of the UVP Network and the Reinvention Center Executive Board.
The UVP meeting is scheduled to take place from 8:00AM to 3:30PM on October 9th (breakfast and lunch will be served). A detailed agenda will follow in a few weeks, once the speaker and topics are finalized, please find the tentative agenda and useful information in the links below.

Thursday, October 8: Afternoon
All are welcome to join us for a 5:30 PM reception and complementary dinner under the Dome, Notre Dame’s most widely recognized landmark. Fr. John Jenkins, President of the University, will welcome the group and make a few introductory remarks.
Friday, October 9: Morning
Bbegins with a Continental breakfast at 8 AM. Guest presenters from Notre Dame and other UVP member institutions will share innovative programs where undergraduates are engaged in research abroad or in underserved communities.
Friday, October 9: Afternoon
Presentations will focus on undergraduate advising, especially in the first year of studies, and on using e-portfolios as a way to frame, reflect upon, and document student learning across the curriculum. The sessions will be held in Jordan Hall of Science, one of Notre Dame’s newest and most technologically advanced buildings. Before lunch on Friday, attendees will experience a demonstration of the Digital Visualization Theater, a full-dome all-digital theater in which as many as 135 students can be transported through space, immersed within a beating heart, or flown through a strand of DNA. Most importantly, the meeting will be an opportunity to connect with colleagues who share a similar passion for enhancing undergraduate education at research universities.
Transportation to the South Bend airport should enable attendees to catch flights home after 5 PM ET, Friday. South Bend Airport is served by United Airlines, Delta Airlines, Northwest Airlines, Continental Airlines, and Allegiant Airlines. South Bend is a ninety minute drive from Chicago. Preferred room rates of $119/night have been negotiated at the Hilton Garden Inn (574-232-7700) and the Inn at Saint Mary’s (800-947-8627), two comfortable hotels adjacent to the Notre Dame campus; however, participants need to reserve their own rooms. The hotels will release any unsold rooms on September 1, 2009.
